My Personal Experience

RBC is the place to be

Because it represents diversity

Doesn't matter you belong to what city

At the end its all about the unity

They motivate, support and appreciate

Team leaders play the role of mediate

Rules are for everyone to follow

Whether you started early or late

There is much to give and so much to learn

No matter what business what department you are from

As they believer we all are one

RBC gives you the opportunity to prove your self

Respecting and treating everyone right is your wealth

Looking through the business, systems and department

Everything is based on experience and talent

Multicultural workplace and given equal chance

Wana makes u work at RBC just by having a glance

I am proud of a diversed workplace

Its among the best in any case

This is the poem which is written by me. As the poem gives it away I work for RBC Royal Bank of Canada for Risk Mitigation Department. I have been with the bank for about 2 years and I have achieved numerous awards in these two years. I believe that RBC strongly supports Diversity. In RBC, we have several committees which support great talents and appreciate employees. one of the committee is RBC Diversity. Being a member of a visible minority, within 6 months of working at RBC Royal Bank, I received my first employee capability award. After that, I was rewarded with a Quarter Award as RBC has four quarters in a year. After that in RBC Royal Performance Gala I received a bronze award for my hard work and accomplishments. I was a top performer every month for over a year and was among the top 5/10 performers in my second year. I was awarded with many certificates, gifts, client compliments and etc. In fact, I was just promoted to a new position and i am fairly new to the position. The reason I gave a little bit of background about my workplace is because all these accomplishments show that I love what I do and I am very dedicated to my job. This can only happen if you are happy and satisfied with what you do and where you do it. We as individuals spend more time at our work then being at home so it is important to feel connected. I feel belonged, valued, important, appreciated, supported, homely, and connected at RBC with my team leader, managers, co workers and work is mainly because of Diversity. The poem written above was during the Diversity Week in RBC. An example is of my department, most of my co workers are elderly or older adults. My co -workers  have been working for RBC for 5-35 years. In my department, I have people who are asian, south asian, european, african, arabic and more. The manager of the department is a woman. In our department we have people who come from diver backgrounds and speak different languages. RBC uses it as a strategy and asks the employees who speak another language to help clients who have language barrier. RBC states "The diversity of our business and a commitment to cross-functional teamwork mean that career opportunities are unusually broad. Respect for the individual drives a very practical commitment to diversity and inclusion at the Royal Bank of Canada. We succeed and grow by bringing out the best in all our people". Working in such a diverse place has helped me grow as an employee and as an individual. Treating everyone equally, being tolerant, understanding, non-judgemental, respectful and supportive are some of the key strengths that I have enhanced in my personality. 

This is the small example of a personal experience of Diversity. The purpose to share this is that Diversity is not only by colour or ethnicity. It is by gender, by religion, by culture, by age, by education by capabilities and by experience.
